Monthly Profile

undefinedLaurence J. Kennedy M'81
Larry Kennedy was a member of one of the first groups of volunteers to work with the Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork Program, a program that has grown to such a size and importance that 800 alumni volunteers are needed each year.  Larry has continued to volunteer throughout the ten years of the program’s existence.  He was among the first members of the alumni committee who volunteered to provide continuing feedback to faculty and staff about how the program could be improved.  When his career caused him to begin working across the country, he consistently arranged to return to campus during the coaching sessions so that he could continue to volunteer.  In addition to his CLTP experience, he was among the first alums to volunteer to participate in the Alumni Mentoring Program, which was initiated to assist MBA students as they seek to return to employment and utilize their new degrees.  He now contributes time to the Santa Fe Business Incubator and returns to Babson as often as possible to participate in alumni programs.

It seems only fitting that Joe Weintraub, Co-Director of the Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork Program, should get the last word when it comes to Larry Kennedy.  Joe says, “"Larry has been one of the most dedicated coaches we have ever had in CLTP.  Larry sets a standard of excellence and dedication that has been an inspiration to us all."

For his many contributions to Babson, Larry was presented with the Distinguished Service to the College Award in 2006.

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A NEW STUDY ON PREGNANCY IN THE WORKPLACE

Danna Greenberg, management professor at Babson College, is working with two colleagues from Boston College, Judy Clair and Jamie Ladge (Babson alumnae ’95), on a study of women’s experiences of being pregnant in the workplace.  Particularly, they are interested in how professional women manage impressions that others form of them as they move through pregnancy and the kinds of issues and challenges they encounter specifically in the workplace.  At this time, they are looking to interview professional women who fit the following criteria:

a) are currently pregnant with their first child,

b) intend to return to work in some capacity after their maternity leave; and

c) have at least three years of professional work experience (and/or one year of professional experience post-graduate school).

The interview lasts approximately one hour and can be scheduled at a location and time of your convenience.  Each participant’s identity will be held in confidence as just thematic results will be reported.

If you or anyone you know fits the above criteria and would like to participate in this study, please contact Danna at dgreenberg@babson.edu or 781-239-5557.
