BFEA-Logo-Topbar

Founded by graduate students in 2005, the BFEA is a student-run organization chartered for students to share ideas and develop networks focussed specifically on family business.  Our mission is to provide students with an avenue to discuss matters around family factors that either constrain or enhance strategic advantage.

Sample BFEA Events

Brown Bag Lunch Series

Our most popular series event, the BBL series is designed to provde a way for students to present their business to other students.  Typically lasting about a half-hour, students bring their own lunch to informally concentrate on a family issue.

Conversations at BBL are two-way, and generally focus on family/management/ownership matters rather than simply a show-and-tell.  This is both a networking opportunity and a way to get feedback.

The BBLs are generally planned to occur on a monthly basis.

BFEA Speaker Series

The BFEA locates and sponsors several speakers from outside Babson to facilitate a dialogue regarding a specific theme in the realm of family ownership-management.

Pub Night

An unmoderated informal social gathering for people with an interest in family business.

BFEA Member Dinners

A intimate setting with 2-3 students and our advisor, Prof. Tim Habbershon (info).  Prof. Habbershon is a noted family consultant, and director of Babson's Instutute of Family Enterprising.  These dinners allow students to discuss their family's business over a meal and get some insights to their business concerns.
