Business Practicum - BPR 1000 The Business Practicum (BPR 1000) is available through the Undergraduate Center for Career Development (CCD) for students who have an internship that requires the granting of academic credit for their participation. This program is open to all Babson undergraduates who are currently enrolled in or have completed FME and either IME 2, OEM, or MCE.

Student Criteria for Participation in Business Practicum
In order to participate in the Business Practicum, students must complete the following requirements: -
Must have completed FME and either IME2, OEM, or MCE. The Assistant Director, Internship Programs reserves the right to review this as needed.

Complete and sign the Business Practicum Application and return it to CCD with an internship description which outlines duties required as part of the internship. The Business Practicum Contract must be submitted with all required signatures prior to the deadline date noted on the contract. Please verify with the organization that the addresses and emails listed on the application are correct. -
Participate in the internship –100 hours minimum required over the course of the term.

Submit an evaluation at the end of the term to CCD and ensure that your supervisor completes and returns the evaluation to CCD by the designated deadline. (Note: Employers will also submit an evaluation).
Please note: This program is not retroactive –students must register for program prior to completing the internship.
Successful Completion of Course
Successful participation in the Business Practicum consists of three parts: -
A completed evaluation form which assesses your experience in the internship.

An evaluation form completed by your supervisor assessing your performance.

Completion of 100 hours in your internship experience.
Remember, it is your responsibility to ensure that both the Student and Employer Evaluation Forms are returned to the Undergraduate Center for Career Development at the conclusion of the internship. Failure to do so will delay the process for grading and the Practicum will be considered incomplete.
Once all completed Business Practicum evaluations are received by CCD, the materials will be reviewed by the Assistant Director, Internship Programs and credit/grade will be awarded as a Pass/Fail designation.
Important Information for International Students
Business Practicum is NOT employment authorization for international students. You may not begin your internship until you have obtained proper work authorization.
General Tips for Participation in Business Practicum -
You must have completed at least one academic year before you can apply for the Business Practicum.

You must have an offer for an internship in the area you are studying before you can apply for the Business Practicum

You should begin the application process at least 2 weeks before your internship start date to avoid any work authorization delay.
Application Steps

Download the Business Practicum Application from the CCD Web site or stop by the office to pick up a copy.

Complete the application.

Bring the completed application to CCD to obtain the approval signature of the Assistant Director of Internship Programs.

Visit Office of International Programs to review the requirements for CPT. Bring the following materials to this meeting: (1) completed and signed Business Practicum Application and (2) copy of your most recent Form I-94.
NOTE: You cannot begin your internship until work authorization is granted.
