Institute for Latin American Business Overview

The Institute for Latin American Business' programs and activities are designed to:

Support curriculum and teaching
ILAB conducts workshops and offers advisory services, both in the U.S. and in Latin America, to support curriculum and teaching development in Latin American universities, covering such issues as:

  • Case writing and case teaching.
  • Integrated curriculum development.
  • Teaching in an integrated program.
  • Entrepreneurship issues in Latin America, including family enterprising, venture capital, and corporate entrepreneurship.

    Foster joint research projects with Latin American scholars:
  • Scholar-in-Residence Program: bring Latin American scholars to Babson to conduct joint research with Babson Faculty in areas of mutual interest.
  • Joint research teams: identify and fund opportunities for joint research on such issues as entrepreneurship and venture capital in the Latin America.
  • Promotes participation in global research projects including the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project, and the Diana Project, a multiyear and multiuniversity study of female business owners and business growth activities.

    Promulgate Babson's vision of entrepreneurship throughout the region:

  • Conduct executive seminars Promote Babson's Certificate of Advanced Management to Latin American MBAs.
  • Promote different types of student exchanges with Latin American universities who are strategic partners.
  • Extend Babson’s expertise through advisory service offerings to support curriculum and teaching development in Latin American universities.
  • Offer summer courses in entrepreneurship at Babson for Latin American undergraduates.

    Renew and maintain Babson's insight into Latin America:

  • Support student activities on campus that focus on Latin American business issues.
  • Promote the development of teaching cases on Latin American issues to be used at Babson, as well as at Latin American business schools.
  • Maintain a relationship with the local business interests that focus on Latin America support and guide Babson offices in their initiatives on the region.
