Do the same companies offer projects every year?

Global Management Program sponsor companies vary from year to year, depending on current business needs, major developments like corporate mergers, as well as national or regional economic conditions. Many sponsor companies do offer projects each year, and the Global Management Program is constantly cultivating new international opportunities.

I'm an international MBA student. Can I participate in the Global Management Program?

Yes, international students can participate in the Global Management Program, in one of two ways. International students can apply to be part of the candidate pool for assignments outside the United States (other than in their home country). International students can also participate in the Global Management Program if they have secured a summer internship in the United States. However, please note that the Global Management Program does not match international students to U.S. internship opportunities. International students are responsible for securing their own U.S. assignments with advice and support from the MBA Center for Career Development.

I'm an Evening MBA student. Can I participate in the Global Management Program?

Yes, An evening MBA student can participate in the Global Management Program, as long as s/he has a GPA of 3.0 or higher and is at least halfway through the MBA program at the time his or her Global Management Program assignment commences. Evening students must be available to go on assignment for the full 10-12 weeks. Evening students may also be able to arrange an international assignment with their own employer that qualifies for the Global Management Program; for more information on this possibility, please contact the Global Management Program office at tsimon@babson.edu.

I'm a One-Year MBA student. Can I participate in the Global Management Program?

Yes, One-Year MBA students can participate in the Global Management Program, but with a caveat. Because the Global Management Program is an academic program, participating students must enroll and earn academic credit -- including graduating One-Year MBA students. A One-Year student has two options: (1) pay for additional credits after graduation, or (2) reserve credits for the Global Management Program, with a backup plan to take another summer elective course if a Global Management Program assignment is not secured. In either case, the student is allowed to take part in the May graduation ceremony.

What does the Global Management Program application process entail?

There are three parts to the application process: (1) an application form which includes a questionnaire about the applicant's geographic, industry and functional interests; (2) a brief written Personal Statement; and (3) an interview with the program director. Students are selected for the Global Management Program candidate pool on the basis of their professional experience, career interests, academic performance, and language skills. While proficiency in a language other than English is not required, it is considered an asset. The program then makes every effort to find a suitable corporate match for each student in the pool.

How does the corporate matching process work?

As international project opportunities become available, they are announced to the Global Management Program candidate pool by email, and students are expected to respond quickly. The Global Management Program manager presents resumes of interested students to the sponsor companies. The company may make its decision simply on the basis of resumes, or may wish to conduct telephone interviews with one or more students. The goal is to find the best match between company needs and student experience and career interests.

When will I get my assignment?

Assignments are usually confirmed between January and April. However, it is important to keep in mind that participating students are not guaranteed an assignment. Because corporate needs vary from year to year, it may not be possible to find an appropriate international assignment for every student in the Global Management Program candidate pool.

Can I find my own international assignment?

MBA students can, do, and should utilize their own contacts and resources to find an international assignment. These students are welcome to participate in the Global Management Program as long as they meet the program's academic requirements.

Will I need a visa or working papers to participate in the Global Management Program?

The answer to this question is contingent on the student's citizenship and the country in which the assignment will be undertaken. However, in most cases, because of the way the Global Management Program is structured, visas and working papers are not required.
