Carl David Smith

Biographical
Carl Smith was born October 22, 1889 in Golden, Ill. He earned his bachelors degree at Springfield College in 1914. He directed the Department of Education for the Y.M.C.A. in Springfield, MA from 1914-1915. He was Director of Northeastern University's Worcester division 1916-1920. From 1923-1935 he was Dean of Northeastern University School of Business. After leaving Babson he became acting Dean at Springfield College. He left Springfield College to become Managing Director of the Credit Research Foundation. He died October 16, 1969 in New Canaan, CT.
Babson Years
The U.S. Navy Supply School occupies the campus while the Institute is closed for the duration of the Second World War.
President Smith petitions the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for permission to offer a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration.
