Undergraduate School News

Message from the Dean
Dennis HannoThe semester is off to a roaring start and has been, by all accounts, one of the smoothest openings ever.  There has been a lot of buzz among the students about the changes made during the summer around campus, many of which were described in last month’s newsletter.  I hope the positive buzz continues--life is good at Babson! Please take the chance to get on campus soon at one of our many upcoming events--Back to Babson, Campaign Kickoff, Black Affinity Conference, among others–-or for one of my Dean’s Coffee Hour gatherings every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Campus Center.  They are informal opportunities for dialogue with students and the entire Babson community. Hope to see you soon!

Babson Athletics Launches Live Streaming Video

Select events from various sports throughout the season will be streamed live through the Internet! In addition, the Athletics Department has announced that all of this year’s men’s soccer home games, including any potential home playoff games, will be streamed live, thanks to the generous support of alumni of men’s soccer. Fans interested in viewing the games online will need to register for an account with CSTV in order to log in by going to www.babsonathletics.com. Registration is free of charge and requires only a valid email address, a password of the viewer's choosing, and a birth date.

MBA Ranking News
Earlier this month, AmericaEconomia magazine, the largest circulation business publication in Latin America, released their 7th Annual MBA program ranking.  Babson’s MBA program was ranked #21 among U.S. business schools.  We also were ranked #33 in the world.  Of note, we ranked #4 among U.S. institutions for percent of Latin Students (10.8%).  Last year, Babson was ranked #20 and #30 respectively.  This accomplishment continues to speak to the strength of the Babson MBA brand in Latin America and bodes well for continued success in attracting Latin American students and cultivating relationships with colleges and universities throughout the region.  Complete details can be found at www.americaeconomia.com.

Fortune Small Business magazine also published their list of MBA programs that are Best for Entrepreneurs.  While not a ranking (list is published alphabetically), Babson was listed first among the 26 U.S. MBA programs identified in the article.  This article is in the September 2007 issue of Fortune Small Business magazine.  Complete details can be found at CNNMoney online.

Finally, Expansion, Mexico’s leading business magazine, in their August 20 edition, ranked Babson #30  among U.S. business schools and #49 in the world in their “The Best Global MBAs for Mexicans, 2007” edition.  This is the first time Babson has been ranked in this survey.  Complete details can be found at www.expansion.com.mx.
