Richard Block joined the faculty as an adjunct professor in the fall of 2006. His areas of interest are activity-based costing and budgeting, and working capital management.

Mr. Block is also a partner in Tatum LLC, a national executive services firm, which provides executive financial and technological management to companies in significant transition. Prior to Tatum, Mr. Block served eight years as the Chief Financial Officer of Avicon Group Inc., a venture capital-funded supply chain consulting and IT integration company, where he helped raise $14M in equity and debt financing and then led the restructuring efforts to RFID software development 4 years later. Prior to Avicon, he held financial management positions at Intel and Digital Equipment Corporation. Prior to Digital, he worked on both the audit and consulting staffs of Touche Ross & Company.

Mr. Block is the co-author of “Mosco”, a semiconductor strategic cost and activity based management case study, published in the 3rd edition of “Advanced Management Accounting” by Robert Kaplan and Anthony Atkinson.

Block holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from New York University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
