Since 1988, Michael Caslin has been involved in helping the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) develop a leadership position in the field of youth development via entrepreneurship education.

Caslin was an entrepreneur and owned small businesses active in the corporate turnaround management consulting and real estate sectors. He started his first major business as a business deelopment and strategy consultant as Managing Director of his own corporate turnaround consulting firm. The Caslin Group Business Consultants was founded in 1984 and operated until 1992. The firm specialized in small business corporate turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy re-organization and small busines growth strategies.

Due to NFTE's providential growth and its vital mission of bringing the power of entrepreneurship to children of the poor throughout the USA and around the world, Caslin chose to take a personal leave of absence from his own entrepreneurial ventures. He committed himself to helping NFTE advance the concept that entrepreneurship and wealth creation is an effective way to transcend poverty.

Under Caslin's leadership, NFTE has "gone to scale" from start-up sites in Fort, Apache, South Bronx and Newark, NJ with one teacher and a budget of $189,000 to sites that now have 3,200 NFTE certified teachers in 46 states and 14 countries abroad. With an annual revenue of $9.4 million, NFTE has a $400,000 annual strategic reserve and also has built a $4 million endowment.
