Sebastian Fixson teaches operations management and product development courses to both undergraduate and graduate students at Babson. Prior to joining Babson he taught at both business and engineering schools such as MIT’s Sloan School of Management, the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering, and Northeastern University’s School of Technological Entrepreneurship.
His research interests revolve around product development (PD), in particular of large-scale complex engineered products. Trained as both an engineer and social scientist he studies the effects of technical and organizational design decisions – and their interactions – on the operational efficiency and strategic effectiveness of a firm’s PD program. Industrial partner and clients of his work have been companies such as Alcoa, Boeing, Delphi, Ford, GM, and Raytheon.
