Sinan Erzurumlu received his Ph.D. in Supply Chain and Operations Management from Mccombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He teaches operations management courses both to undergraduate and graduate students. His research interests include product design and development, technology management, and channels of distribution in supply chains.

He currently studies the interactions between a firm's innovations, product design decisions and supply chain relationships. His work focuses on how firms make their product design and commercialization decisions with respect to external competitors to gain a position of competitive advantage that will lead to superior operational and financial performance. Specifically, he explores the role of collaboration and strategic interactions among firms in product development and determining the distribution channels of innovative and durable products. Recently, he has begun to study the role of operations management in entrepreneurial firms to understand the investment strategies for start-up firms.
