Welcome to the Mathematics and Science Division
Located in Babson and Kriebel Halls, the Mathematics and Science Division is comprised of over 40 full- and part-time faculty members. To access a complete listing of our faculty, including specialties and areas of interest, please refer to the faculty section.
The Mathematics and Science Division is comprised of two areas - natural sciences, and quantitative methods and statistics. Many of the faculty members in the division are cross-disciplinary, teaching and performing research in more than one area.
There are three "first principles" that reflect the role of the natural sciences in the Babson curriculum. First, science must support Babson core values. Secondly, Babson students must have sufficient scientific and technical literacy (not necessarily detailed knowledge) to succeed in the business community of the 21st century. Finally, Babson students must be sufficiently appreciative of scientific and logical thinking to be responsible citizens.
The quantitative methods and statistics components in the Babson College education promote quantitative analysis as core to successful management practices. The faculty members contribute innovative quantitative solutions to current business problems, develop effective curricula, and leverage revolutionary uses of technology. By developing an educational experience that encourages our students to think analytically, we educate future leaders who will contribute a richer and more entrepreneurial dimension to businesses that they join or create.
