| Babson Economics Professor and Chair of the Economics Division, Lidija Polutnik is one of twelve appointed by the President of the United States to serve as a peer reviewer for Fulbright Senior Specialists, a short-term program of opportunities for U.S. faculty and professionals, offered by the Fulbright Scholar Program and administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). The Fulbright Senior Specialists Program is designed to provide two- to six-week academic opportunities for specialists to work within the framework of their current professional commitments and responsibilities. Applications for the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program are accepted on a rolling basis, and peer review of applications is conducted eight times per year. Polutnik is uniquely qualified as a peer reviewer since she was recipient of a 2004 Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in economics to Croatia. There, she worked at the Graduate School of Economics and Business at the University of Zagreb to assess and develop curricula for teaching business skills to help developing businesses especially in transition economies. The Peer Reviewer’s role is to consider applications in the context of the basic objectives of the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program, and: - to assess the appropriateness of the applicant's background, experience and achievements for a short-term international exchange opportunity,
- to consider the expected benefits of the applicant's ability to promote mutual understanding, to benefit host countries and, upon the grantee's return to the United States, to benefit home institutions and/or networks of professional colleagues.
Polutnik, from Arlington, Mass., earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maribor, Slovenia; a M.A., Ohio University; and Ph.D., Georgia State University. |
